RACE INFORMATION               

 

          The Basics

  • Scenic USATF CERTIFIED course!

  • Course Details
    • USATF CERTIFIED!  Course certification number:  WA09029MW

    • out-and-back

    • runs along the waterfront road that overlooks Puget Sound's Saratoga Passage

    • a mix of GENTLY ROLLING HILLS and flat sections

    • 12 miles of the course is paved, and approximately 1 mile of the course is on a smooth gravel road

    • water stops will be available approximately every 2 miles on the course (as shown on the map)

    • water stops will be stocked with water, an electrolyte replacement drink, and gel products

    • EMTs and police will be on hand to handle any safety emergencies

    • the 10k Walk event starts and finishes with the Half Marathon, turning around at the 5k marker on the race course

  • The Town, and the Festival

    • start and finish in Langley, on the South End of Whidbey Island approximately 6 miles from the Clinton ferry terminal

    • during the race, friends and family members can wander Langley's streets, shops, galleries, bakeries, and coffeshops

    • runners will finish as the Choochokam Arts Festival is opening for the day.  Food, art, crafts, and music will be available throughout Langley.

    • the Choochokam Arts Festival will run through 5PM on the day of the race

The Logistics - GETTING TO THE START

  • Get to the Island (see Getting Here, Staying Here).  Note:  if you come on one of the Sunday morning ferries from the Seattle side, you'll need to catch either the 6AM or the 7AM from Mukilteo.

  • Drive to Langley

  • Park in the vicinity of Langley Middle School (Map)

  • Walk 4 blocks to the Start/Finish area (Map) (near the corner of Saratoga Rd. and DeBruyn Avenue on the edge of downtown Langley)

 

Packet Pickup

  • On Saturday (the day before the race), at the race registration booth at Choochokam in downtown Langley

  • Until 8 AM on race morning, adjacent to the race starting line at the corner of Saratoga Rd. and DeBruyn Avenue on the edge of downtown Langley

Gear Check

  • When you pick up your race number, you'll receive a bunch of schwag in a reusable shopping bag from one of our race sponsors, The Star Store

  • Put your gear in this bag, write your number on it with an indelible marker, and leave it at the tables adjacent to race registration in the vicinity of the start

  • Pick up your gear from the same tables at the finish

The Schedule - Sunday 11 July 2010

  • 6:30 AM Day of Race registration, packet pickup at starting line

  • 7:30 AM Half Marathon Early Start (if you expect the race to take you more than 3 hours)

  • 8:30 AM Half Marathon Race and 10k Walk Start, corner of Saratoga Rd. and DeBruyn Avenue on the edge of downtown Langley (Map)

  • 11:00 AM Awards ceremony, Choochokam Main Stage, corner of 1st and Anthes, downtown Langley (Map)

Awards (Half Marathon Race only)

  • Overall awards to the top 10 male and top 10 female finishers

  • Age group awards to the top 3 in each of the following age groups

    • 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over

  • There will be a door prize drawing at the Awards Ceremony, for a series of incredible gifts from Island merchants and race sponsors
